No Games
Released: November 2004
Allister’s debut album, this project began after Allister met producer Darren Walters while Allister was coaching another artist through the recording of one of Allister’s songs. Allister and Darren became instant friends and set to work on recording the album. The pair created rough versions of the songs, and Allister prepared the song charts for the studio musicians who would soon be coming to perform. Drummer Gary Craig (Bruce Cockburn, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Tom Cochrane, Jann Arden…), bassist Ian Tanner (The Northern Pikes, Jim Witter, One Hundred Days, The Awakening…), keyboardist Steve O’Connor and guitarist Mike ‘Pepe’ Francis (Stan Rogers, Alanis Morissette, Gordon Lightfoot, Kim Mitchell, Natalie MacMaster, Jeff Healey…) performed stellar complements to Allister’s piano and vocals.
The album represents Allister’s range of genres as a songwriter, including everything from his Canadian Smooth Jazz Award nominated “If Ever I Cried” to his campfire favourites “Song About Nothing” and “Bring Me a Beer”.
